So I've decided this doesn't really need to be a sticky anymore.  However, since LJ has been having strange issues with newly created sticky posts messing up your posts appearing on friends' lists, I'm just copypasting my mod post to here and keeping my sticky post intact, since it's not broken in the way new stickies are, so that I can have a master list/index post as a sticky.  Sadly, this means I'll no longer have all your nice comments, but such is life.

Most Recent Edit - December 23rd 2010: I have added a bunch of new names - 13 male, 66 female, 48 last - 127 new names in total!  I have also completely redone the mod, running my name lists through a list randomizer and typing all the code out again. Somebody once said name mods always start from the same point in the list (no idea if that's for real), but I've decided to do this once a year so that your names are as random as possible forever.  Feel free to redownload and let the file overwrite the old one.  Happy simming!

In case you're wondering about all the blank days on my LJ this month, this is what I've been doing with my time!  I've been working on my own default replacement townie name mod - and it's one of the biggest ever posted!  This is my Christmas gift to the entire simming community and I hope that you'll all enjoy it.

Edit January 7th 2010: By request, I have created a new version of my townie name replacement mod.  This is for those of you with pets installed who liked my townie names but couldn't bear to go back to default maxis stray pet names.  My townie names are exactly as they are in the regular mod, but I have blended in Jordi's pet names (somewhat shamelessly).  I added about five pet names of my own as the names of my real life pet companions, past and present, were sorely missing.  All credit for the pet names should and must go to Jordi.  I only blended his pet name mod in to my own townie name mod.  My own townie names though - credit is still to me and my policy still applies.  Download the version below if you want the pet names too.

Here it is - the mod I was talking about here that wasn't fail.  I have no idea if anybody else has ever noticed this.  You know all those new outfits that came with AL?  Probably the nicest clothing ever put in the game by EA/Maxis?  Did you know that most of those outfits are not townified?  I know it's hard to believe - if you don't have notownieregen.package from MATY you may think they are the most overused outfits in the game.  But the only sims that have the ability to spawn in these outfits are the AL Social Group Townies.  I swear.  If you did have notownieregen.package installed, you would never see these outfits on any townie.  Ever. 

What do I mean by not townified?  Well, when your sim ages up or when you are pressing randomize in Create-a-Family, those outfits will never, ever come up.  The only way your sims can wear them is if they actually purchase them.  I thought this was stupid.  So I created this little mod to enable those outfits to be spawned on your sims.  It's actually two seperate tiny mods, as I realized there were a few outfits I'd missed.  Just throw them in your downloads folder and voila! - a chance of your sims aging up in those outfits!

What outfits am I talking about?  Well, those pretty silk dresses, the cute V-shaped fringed dress, the wrap dresses, those cute mismatched suit outfits for men - pretty much the majority of the outfits that came with Apartment Life.  As a bonus, I have done the same with the Nightlife male vampire outfit.  Not the elaborate grand vampire one, but the regular one that your sims can purchase at any clothing store.  It wasn't townified either.  So I threw it in as a bonus.  I figure by now that everybody has Nightlife anyway.  Obviously, Apartment Life is required for this mod to work as well.

What outfits aren't included?  There are a few AL outfits I hate so much that I didn't put them in, partly because I have a hider for them in my own game.  They include the biker-ish outfit with the hideous flame boots as seen on townie Calista Fuchs and those weird sci-fi type outfits seen on La Shawn Cameron.

Firstly, I'd like to start this entry with a HUGE pimping out of something Sims 2 related I found today.

If you haven't yet noticed Almighty Hat's "Stolen By Fairies" you have to go check it out!  Like, right now!

I was kind of in the dark about multi pollination technician hacks until today.  I immensely enjoy the fact that there are now eight different pollination technicians for the game to choose from when a sim is abducted for impregnation, but the fact that this one swaps out alien abduction to being stolen away by the fairies - ABSOLUTE WIN!  Go check it out!

And now for the second part of my entry.  Where the heck have I been this past week?  I've been right here in front of my computer.  Creating 3 - that's right, three! - new global mods for Sims 2.  One of them is so big that I actually spent thirteen hours straight working on it in SimPE the other day.  They are currently in testing and I will share them with you as soon as I consider them fully tested and 100% safe.  I also worked on a skintone project that includes 6 skintones and I also worked on a clothing project that includes 88 pieces of clothing.  That's what I've been doing with every spare waking hour (and there were many waking hours - I actually pulled two 36 hour days to get everything done!)

Now maybe I'll actually be able to relax and play the game!

Edit: Having read this in the cold light of the next day, when I was no longer running on pure caffeine and momentum, I realize my own stuff sounds a little cocky.  Sorry about that.  I don't think I'm super awesome or anything, I'm just proud of the achievement of finishing three mods.  That's a lot of work for me.  Also, you may be wondering why I haven't posted the clothing and skintones if they're done - I have to sort the darn clothing by EP required before I zip them up, for one thing.  I'll get to it...

Another Edit: I think two of my three mods are fail... they work, but I'm not really happy with them.  I still plan on getting the rest of the stuff up here - I just still have yet to sort the clothing by EP required.  I'm lazy.  Or too obsessed with my current challenge.  However you want to look at it.

And somebody else probably knows this - if I created a skintone that's cloned from a Maxis creature skin (eg. zombie or werewolf) as opposed to cloned from S1, S2, etc - it would probably require the EP the creature skin was cloned from, yes?
